After thinking things over, I am coming to the realization that I am too poor to own and maintain a European luxury vehicle. This last incedent wa s the final straw, it’s time to get something else.
The volvo lost a cylinder, with that and the passenger control arm in the process of coming detatched and a blown cv, plus a timing service due soon, and a bunch of other little things that I don’t have time/ space to fix.
Does anybody want to buy a slightly neglected but salvageable 2005 volvo xc70 with 155k on the clock?

My 2004 needed new bushings at around 100k and passenger ball joints around this same time...I think that’s nature of the beast.. lost a cylinder, though? We’re the coil packs ever replaced?

My 1998 V70 with almost 320k has needed quite a bit over the years, but she's still going. I'm pretty sure I can see 400k if I keep treating her right. With a bit of DIY and planned maintenance an older Volvo can go a long time. I think the P2's and newer are when they got that much more difficult to keep up with.

I’d lay money that’s what it’s going to be. Did you replace all 5 at the time? You should have a couple spare used ones on the shelf somewhere. Pull the codes and the ECU will tell you which cylinder is missing. This is like a 20 min job to get back on the road.

I am unable to work on my car where i live due to community restrictions. The list of problems is long and the cost to fix them, even doing the work myself, exceeds any potential resale value.
I like this car, but I don’t love it. I might feel different if it were a manual, or a little more fun to drive.
